Commitment to Innovation: Green Hydrogen and Energy Storage
Texla is positioning itself at the technological forefront with its focus on innovative solutions in energy storage and green hydrogen. Through its subsidiary, Magaza Development, established in 2023, the company is advancing the development of cutting-edge lithium-ion (Li-Ion) battery systems, essential for ensuring the stability and efficiency of the electrical grid.
In the green hydrogen sector, Texla is collaborating with the Scottish firm Renewco Power on ambitious projects to construct electrolysis plants in southern Spain, with a target completion date of 2027.
Renewco has extensive experience in the development of onshore wind, solar PV, battery storage, and green hydrogen projects, currently managing a development pipeline of 10 GW for 2025.
According to Roland Bettscheider, Project Manager at Texla and co-founder of Magaza Development, these technologies are far more than mere trends. «Energy storage and green hydrogen are key tools for overcoming energy challenges. If we can surpass regulatory hurdles, 2025 could be a decisive year for the expansion of these technologies,» he states.
Environmental Commitment and Asset Management: Sustainable Leadership
Texla’s environmental commitment is evident in its management of 59 renewable energy projects across Spain, in various phases of development, construction, and operation. Iconic projects like Statkraft’s El Rancho in Cádiz and Bruc’s Fuentes de Ebro in Aragón highlight Texla’s ability to tackle complex challenges and achieve positive environmental impact by implementing innovative practices that benefit biodiversity and environmental balance. For instance, these projects contribute to the conservation and recovery of endangered species such as the Little Bustard (Tetrax tetrax) and the Dupont’s Lark (Chersophilus duponti).
Additionally, in the field of electrical connection infrastructure asset management, Texla currently oversees 20 projects that channel over 8 GW of power into the system. This includes 2,800 MW from wind energy, 250 MW from concentrated solar power (CSP), and more than 5,200 MW from solar PV plants, showcasing its ability to ensure operational efficiency and long-term performance for renewable energy facilities.
A Sector in Transformation
Texla’s journey is unfolding amid a profound transformation in Spain’s energy sector. In 2024, 57.3% of Spain’s electricity was generated from renewable sources, establishing the country as a European leader in the energy transition.
Andalusia has played a pivotal role in this progress, increasing its solar PV generation capacity eightfold over the last decade. Texla has also been instrumental in this growth, driving, developing, and collaborating on the deployment of 7,477 MW of renewable projects in Andalusia over the past three years, more than 80% of which are photovoltaic.
“We are living through an unprecedented transformation. The energy transition is not just a challenge; it is an opportunity to reshape how we generate and consume energy. At Texla, we celebrate these 15 years by looking to the future, committed to agile solutions that leave a legacy of sustainability and progress,” concludes Miguel Montero.
